Match Report:

Atlético Madrid have done it again, snapped the victory away from another team’s jaws and proved that they are still in the game and very much capable of playing it on their own terms. Even with Mandzukic and Koke riding the bench the Atléticos were active, fast and quick on their feet with the ball. It wasn’t long before Athletic Bilbao took the lead 17 minutes into the game with Rico scoring a beauty but Atlético Madrid were fast in catching up and retaliating with not one, not two and definitely not three but four goals.

Griezmann rocked the pitch tonight with goal after goal and (obviously) reaching a hatrick. A match that started with a Bilbao in the lead took a completely new turn in the second half where the tables turned in favor of Madrid. The referee was a tad lenient, letting go of a few fouls until Adruiz received the first of several bookings of the night.

The first half we saw Atlético Madrid losing badly but in the second half their team chemistry picked up and the rest is history. It seems like when you’re from Madrid (even though you’re not at the top of the table *ahem ahem* Real *ahem*), you can count on a good show of goals any time of the day.

Lineups:

Atlético Madrid: Moya, J. Giménez, Siqueira (Hernandez 88’), Juanfran, Godin, Garcia, Turan (Gamez 84’), Saul (Rodriguez 80’), Gabi, Griezmann, Tiago

Athletic Bilbao: Iraizoz, Etxeita, Balenziaga (Gomez 79’), José, Susaeta (Aketxe 84’), Gurpegi, Rico, Lopéz (Guillermo 68’), Marcos, Adruiz, Muniain

Man of the Match:

Do I even need to write this? Griezmann all the way! The man hit a hatrick and gave Atlético Madrid the edge they needed. All hail Griezmann!
