Match Report:

18 straight wins, 18 games and a new record for the Spanish Giants as they pull ahead of Barcelona who previously held the record of most consecutive wins in La Liga. Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 200th goal for Real Madrid tonight, putting him in the same league as Raul and Di Stefano, the only Real Madrid players to have more than 200 goals.

Celta Vigo had remained undefeated in their away games this season but that was up until they hadn’t faced the terror that is Real Madrid. In a spectacular fashion, Cristiano Ronaldo crushed the Celta team with a hatrick. Sergio did make some remarkable saves that would have otherwise ended at the back of the net if there had been a mediocre keeper in front of it but still that just wasn’t enough to win the game for the team.

The game was exciting from the beginning, although it did take up a dull shade or two a little after half time. It picked back some pace after the fouls started pouring in one after the other; with both teams hungry for the win and baring their claws. A few amazing attempts were made by the men in white but Iker Casillas received absolutely no action tonight. He might as well have been absent or lounging around the net. The Celta Vigo team made wasteful attempts that usually ended up anywhere but near the net.

The only credit goes to the Celta goalkeeper and defense, out of which Johnny can be singled out as an outstanding defender. Their defense helped the score remain at 3 instead of a whopping 7 or an 8. An expected win, but a win nevertheless. Real Madrid are at the top and they refuse to back down even for a game.

Man of the Match:

A hatrick with some outstanding goals paired with a penalty. Cristiano Ronaldo was truly and indisputably on fire tonight; the good kind.

Real Madrid: Casillas; Carvajal, Pepe, Ramos, Marcelo; James, Illarramendi, Kroos; Bale, Benzema (Coentrao 80’), Ronaldo (Chicharito 84’).

Celta Vigo: Sergio; Mallo, Cabral (Gomez 71’), Fontas, Jonny; Radoja, Hernandez, Krohn-Dehli; Orellana (Fernandez 69’), Nolito, Larrivey.
