Falcons & Wolves end up in a draw

Group II match of Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Silver league that was played between Abbottabad Falcons and Faisalabad Wolves ends up in a draw.

Match Report: Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Silver League; Abbottabad Falcons V Faisalabad Wolves; Abbottabad Cricket Stadium; 6-9^th November, 2014.

There was some of very fine batting display by both teams, Falcons & Wolves but still it didn’t help much in bringing a victory for anyone.

 Impressive century by Wolves’ skipper Fahim Ashraf & 62 by Sadaqat Ali help Wolves to reach 232 in 1^st innings as beside these two players none of the other batsmen reached scored more than 18 runs. Sadaqat was a surprise with the bat as he is inducted in the team as a bowler and came on crease at no 10. 3, 3 wickets hauls by Aziz-ur-Rehman & Umair Khan helped Falcons restrict Wolves to just 232.

While chasing down the 232 runs, Falcons’ opening & middle order also collapsed but then lower middle order came for the rescue of the team. Sohail Akhtar (94), Nasir Khan (72) and Shakeel Ahmed (45) remained prominent with their performance and rightly lead team to a crucial 121 runs lead in the 1^st innings. From Wolves there were two 4 wickets hauls by Faisal Yasin & Fahim Ashraf. Bowlers restricted Falcons to 180 for 7 but then a remarkable 128 runs 8^th wicket partnership strengthened Falcons’ position.

Wolves in the second innings was quite composed & calculated as they smoothly took their total to 278 runs with 5 wickets down & then declared the innings after setting 158 runs target for Falcons. Shahid Siddiq was notable with his 76 and was equally facilitated by other players in the team. But Falcons didn’t have much time to show their potential & aim for a victory as they were just on 9 runs when the play was called off.

Right now Abbottabad Falcons is leading the points table with 3 points and Faisalabad Wolves with 0 points.
