Since their comeback game against Basel in Santiago Bernabeu, the Real Madrid attack has given every team a run for their money; scoring one goal after the other. In contrast to those eventful games this Real Madrid victory seems less glorified yet just as spectacular with 2 amazing goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and Luca Modric in the first half of the game. The highlight of the game however, was Captain Iker Casillas, who seems to have taken the boos and whistles by fans in previous matches rather seriously.
The keeper seemed back on his game as he made amazing saves in various spectacular fashions throughout the match, maintaining a clean sheet. The Villarreal attack seemed a little off and whenever the attackers hit home Iker Casillas was right there to protect his precious net. In addition to that, Manchester United fans arranged for a “Come Home Ronaldo” plane banner to fly up in the air during the game. The banner only succeeded in shaking the Portuguese player out of the game just for a moment, a few moments after which he delivered a goal home assisted by Karim Benzema.
Both teams were in a competitive mood tonight and there seemed to be equally amazing attempts for goals by the Spanish giants. Villarreal missed several great opportunities to score and always failed to hit the ball home. The Real Madrid defense has improved by several degrees, proving to critics all over the world that they are not to be taken lightly. A spectacular block by Marcelo stands out in the second half of the game as he deflected a shot straight into the goal. Nevertheless, there is no doubt that the Madrid players seem to be improving out there on the pitch as they earned 3 well deserved points; all the while working on making their way back to the top.
